No worries
In case you worried about my mental health after so many memorials and museums that deal with the Holocaust, Nazi violence etc., I can reassure you, I find ways to relax. But yes, with so many overwhelmingly sad, cruel, moving stories (because that is what it is all about, stories of men, women and children) that I have come across in the last two weeks, I need to find time and ways to unwind. I always - not only when it comes to dealing with WWII-related issues - have a strong need to ompartmentalize. As I wrote last week, I attended a wonderful opera, I listen to music, eat German and foreign dishes and sandwiches all over the city, sleep very well every night, and I find lots of time to read. I'm reading the fourth book in Michael Connelly's The Lincoln Lawyer's series, the other three I read in the previous three weeks. And today, on my way home from the Puetlitzbruecke, I also found some time to buy sweets and other things for myself and my family at HEMA, the Dutch store, in the Wilmersdorferstrasse. I totally start to feel at home in this city.
