The Jewish Museum & Meeting a Colleague and Friend
When you visit the Jewish Museum, it is easy to understand why it is such a popular tourist attraction. And no, not (only) because it has free entrance to the permanent exhibition. Its architecture and set-up allows you to explore its content and stories, again and again. I've visited the museum several times, and every time I 'discover' things that I had missed during previous visits. This time I only entered to take a few pictures, not to visit any particular part. Shalekhet (falling leaves), the work by the late Israeli artist Menashe Kadishman, makes me shiver every time I enter the room with the metal faces created by the artist. Then I had lunch with Stefanie, a colleague and friend who works for the Leo Baeck Education Center from Berlin. We have worked 'together' and been in touch from afar for several years now, and only now did we have the chance to meet in person, last week at the office of Netzwerk Israel, and now at a really nice Iranian restaurant (how symbolic). It was really nice to get to know each other a bit better.
