Time traveling

Somebody got lost in time this morning at the Alexanderplatz S-Bahn station. No worries, he gave me the 👍 sign when I asked him non-verbally if I could take the picture.

Meeting friends and colleagues

Today, Stefanie Avital of the German Desk at my school, the Leo Baeck Education Center in Haifa, Israel, and I had the chance to meet Greta and Maja of the Netzwerk Israel , which - supported by the EVZ Foundation - gives me a scholarship to stay and work here in Berlin for over two weeks. As soon as I heard from Greta that I had received the scholarship, I contacted her to make an appointment. As with my colleagues from House of One, I wanted to meet Greta and Maja in person, so that future communication and cooperation would be easier and more effective. I wanted Stefanie, who lives in Berlin, to join me, because I thought it important for her to learn about the work of the Netzwerk and for them to know more about what we do at Leo Baeck. And all that is exactly what happened. It was a really good meeting, everybody learnt something, I think. Time to Relax

 On my way back from the Treptower Park, I had my first Döner since I arrived here two weeks ago. I love that German-Turkish street dish, it's much lighter than shawarma. And it used to be much cheaper too ;-) I finished the week, before I went back to my hotel for an early night (I am exhausted and have a bad cold, so I decided to skip kabbalat shabbat this time), with ice cream. I googled 'Best ice cream Berlin', and this one, near the U-Bahnhof Schlesisches Tor, came up first. They may pay Google for that, I don't know, but the ice cream that I had (almond-pistachio and - my default taste - strawberry) was delicious. When I have a cold, usually it does not affect my sense of taste. The only time I could not taste anything was for a few days when I had Covid.

One project finished - A Practical Guide to Memorials of Persecution and Resistance in and around Berlin

 The first (though secondary) of the two projects that I worked on during my time in Berlin has been finished successfully. It is a practical guide for anybody who is in Berlin and wants to visit one or more of the 69 memorials and museums that appear in the guide. It includes a useful guide with a basic description, links to a website (for most sites) and the location in Google maps, plus information about opening hours etc. where relevant. The guide is called 'To Warn and Remember' and you can find it here . My cooperative project with House of One is in an advanced stage. I'm waiting for feedback and input from my Berlin colleagues, as soon as I have that (before the end of the month, I assume) I will finish, publish, and share the learning units based on 'The Man in the Clouds' .
